Audi A3 with EGR fault

The Audi A3 1.9tdi presented an EGR error to our team and the owner requested its removal for improved throttle response. Additionally, they requested a stage 1 tuning file for increased power, resulting in an extra 35bhp and 90nm torque gain. The vehicle had previously undergone EGR removal by another remapping service, but the engine light reappeared after a mere 200 miles of use, with complete loss of power. Our team utilized up-to-date Autel diagnostics equipment to determine that the EGR was still faulty, and after a smoke test on the vacuum lines responsible for the EGR, we found a split vacuum line causing further complications. We managed to repair the split line and cleared the fault codes, but unfortunately, the engine light illuminated again after 15 minutes with the same EGR fault. Therefore, it was necessary to use AlienTech to remap the ECU. Despite experiencing some difficulties in the remapping process due to a new BCM and security bolts fitted to the ECU, we determined that the unit had not undergone any previous remapping. Once the EGR was successfully removed from the ECU and a stage 1 tuning file was uploaded, the vehicle was performing optimally, resulting in one very satisfied customer.
